    Conservatory Condensation And Ventilation

Condensation forms when warm, moist internal air meets a surface below its dew point. Glazing is usually the coldest surface in a conservatory.

Why is my conservatory streaming with water?

Internal condensation appears because the room is humid and under-heated, not because the glazing has failed.

Glasgow's damp climate keeps external humidity high for much of the year, so unheated glazed rooms reach dew point most winter mornings.

    How do I stop it?

Combine background ventilation, a steady low heat and improved glazing to stop conservatory condensation.

    • Trickle vents left open through winter
    • Roof vents or an extract fan for high-humidity use
    • Continuous low-level heating rather than short bursts
    • Warm roof to remove the largest cold surface

Is condensation on the outside a problem?

External condensation is not a problem, because it indicates the glazing is retaining heat inside the room.
